I don't get it, but that's probably just me..

Functionally, I don't see a gain significant enough to warrant all that is involved. Is it just to feel like you have the most updated version? I guess I am missing something..

If there was ever an argument in favor of potting a Disco gearbox set up in a Defender this is it. But that could be even uglier

I have a 2013 Puma and a few ROW trucks.

Puma dash has less leg room, has no cowl vents, and the AC doesn’t blow anywhere but from the from two center outlets.

Just sayin’.
