So it's in California, not Canada

Did you look at this one, too? Little closer.

I specifically wanted AA yellow, so did not look at any others. Used to have a 94 ST (blue) for several years (along with a long series of RR) I also wanted a SW this time too. So found the POE all the way across...lol. It is also a good thing that it is in Cali (but Colorado would be better) because this is a new adventure for my wife. I used to live in CO and offroaded nearly every weekend. Since she has never been to CO, we plan to take a couple of weeks bringing it back - can not wait

BTW, we have a super tricked out 2003 Rover if anyone is interested - flexible on options and price. I own an aftermarket company for modern european cars (nothing for the D90 except LED lighting so far) - so this was my wifes baby and she added nearly everything we have to it.

This is the one I need the PPI - already put a deposit on it and got the price down too!

Oh ok that one. How long has the owner owned it? AutoCheck is down. Looks super familiar like it was for sale last year or something.

I have the Carfax and it has been driven only 3k since 2008. Looks like it was bought by a guy in CA from WI and then it sat. It has been available for several months off and on, but the price was too high I think. I have some minimal rust pics under rear - but that is about it. Just want someone to look it over. I only really car about rust and maybe transmission/clutch smoothness.
Based upon its history (started in Miami, short tun to NJ/WI, then to CA) I doubt it has ever been off road much.

Bryan: Just so you are aware, Ontario is one of those unremarkable places that one usually drives through on their way to somewhere else.

It is going to be a bit far for one of the L.A. , O.C. or San Diego crews to go to unless they are on the road to another So CA destination.

You might consider expanding your search request to ask if anyone travelling on Interstate 10 through San Bernardino County in the next few days could stop by.

Alternatively, Ontario actually has a pretty decent airport if you wanted to make the investment to check it out yourself.

Yeah, I have been there before - when I am out there (or even around here), I don't think twice about a 30 mile drive each way for dinner. Just me.... but I here ya - SOOOO -

If anyone passing through on the 15 or 10 can pull off at the exit and check it....I will do what I can for you!!!

I guess. It does have a hi-lift jack, shovel, PowerTank, some switches inside, and some aux lights, so unless he just loves the look of that stuff, I'd guess it's been on some adventures.

Yeah, but that stuff looks like it has never been used (I have close ups). I think it was one of the deals of just liking the "look" rather than really using it.

Some of us (me included from time to time) get on that boat....lol My wife reminds me when I do. She is a car girl, but intends to use every accessory!

Monday would be great!!! Please let me compensate you... let me know what I can do, or how much

One other general question, since it is a POE, I noticed there is no seal between lift gate and door (with a fairly large gap). I have looked at a couple of catalogs (RoversNorth and AB) and can't find POE references or most importantly if there is a seal available for that spot. I would assume it would attach to the lift gate. Any super geniuses help me on that one?

Just cut a regular seal to size

------ Follow up post added February 3rd, 2012 12:01 PM ------

So does the truck come with any parts of the cage, or has it all been sold off?

Yeah... I can do that, just did not know if there was an 'official' part that is missing, or all POE are that way.

Nice horse BTW. I see your posts often and you are quite helpful. I have been out of the D90 for a few years, and your information has either taught me new things or reminded me of things I forgot!

No, no extra parts.... but I understood that LR, just threw all that stuff out when they did the POE hardtop conversion on about 40 or so D90's - is that not correct?

I guess it is possible that there was an AA Yellow POE from the actual Port of Entry, but I've never heard of one. From the LRFAQ

http://www.lrfaq.org/Defender/FAQ.De...r_9495D90.html

47 1994 Soft Tops were converted to prototype Station Wagon models. Reportedly at least 37 were Coniston Green, 2 Arles Blue and 1 Alpine White. All 47 have VINs between (and including) RA939334 and RA945393. In January 2002 LRNA stated that there were 65 of these and all were Coniston Green.

Those numbers have been revised and re-revised up to about 65, so anything is possible. I've read that ALL were Coniston Green, except for the 2 Arles Blue and the 1 Alpine White, with no mention of AA Yellow.

This VIN of SALDV2281RA939434 falls within that range, so it's possible.

Regardless, the NAS cage is one of those things that makes these trucks valuable; but the POE aspect can add its own value I guess. The POE versatility gives you the ability to run it as a soft or hard top, but in both configurations you have zero rollover protection, as the cage is not tied together.

In short, this truck is NAS, but does not have a NAS soft top cage, yeah it's a "hard top" but without any rollover protection, and the POE provenance may or may not be true, so it's hard to place any value on it.
