Power steering pumps?

I think I need a new pump. Does not squeal just hardto turn at rest. Is there any difference in the ZF compared to the Cardone? New or rebuilt? Where isthe best place for the money to get one?

I am not sure what would cause them to whine other than air. Ive driven a number of Rovers some with high miles others with not so high miles. I have never heard one whine. Could there be something inside of the actual steering box causing the pump to work harder? I am not sure what to do short of replacing the pump again.

I have a rover pump in the garage that was on for just a few months until a diesel conversion. I'll check the numbers on it to see if you can use it.

I think so, look the same as on the Defender which have never been touched. 0 leaks from the system.
