Power steering and ZF auto fluid?

What do you guys use for your power steering and ZF auto transmission? Having a hard time finding the recommended fluid in the manual. Is the Castrol ATF at Walmart OK?

I use the cheapest ATF I can find (wal*mart brand dextron mercon) and change every 15k (or top up every gas fill up with the PS res.).

Have you ever had to replace a tranny yourself...? For the love of GOD please use a good quality ATF....not store brands!

This is actually backwards in my experience with land rovers. Put in mobil one ATF and the trans dies. Run cheap non-synthetic it is fine, store brand, or not.

As noted above it is dextron mercon ATF not type F (type F is specified for LT77s though).

I know nothing about autos...

But for the PS, I use Mobil1 synthetic ATF. I find it makes a big difference with very cold weather performance.

The pedant in me demands that I say "Dexron -- no T".

Back under my rock.
