Possible Starter Issue

Starter was spinning very slowly in the morning, but gets better over the course of the day. Figured the battery was dying, so without testing it, replaced it.

Starter was even slower to turn this morning, so I figure that 1: I need to test the battery as it could be bad out of the box, 2: Check the connections on the starter.

I always saw starters go bad and just stop working, unless you got lucky and could knock some sense into them with a hammer. Do they go bad and slowly stop working?

I would test battery and ig good, then the alternator. If both good then check for drain in the system. I don't think the starters are a common failure problem. Never had one fail unless gear is stripped.

Check the voltage at the starter, it should be within .2 volts or so of the voltage at the battery.
