Daniel,

This isn't so on topic but since no one replied...

I think you'll have a hard time finding them sitting 'side by side'... but maybe someone out there has a pic... But I used to have 255/85's and I miss them, the size was perfect... I like them a lot better than the 265/75's I got on there now. They ride nice (mainly because they're fairly new MTR's) but they fill out the wheel well like the 255/85's did. Goodyear didn't make them when I purchased my tires (I still don't think they do), so I went with the stock size... I'm kinda thinking I should have went a hair bigger, like 285/75's....

In any case, there's a shot of my 255/85's in the Owner BIOS Section of this forum of ours right when I bought the truck (sans the winch, rack, goodies,etc..).

Good luck.

What kind of tire were you thinking of getting in the 255/85 size ?

Nicholas

I have 285/75 BFG ko and love them. You will have to have your steering stops adjusted slightly so they don't rub.

Dan,

Here's the bio's link:
http://www.defendersource.com/forum/...9067#post19067

Yes, some MFR's tires look beefier... I'm not going to get into a whole debate
about what looks better or performs better... but for my application I love GoodYear
MTR's... But to each his own.

D-90 with snorkel (forground first pic.) 285-75-16 tires A/T
D-90 w/o Snorkel (background first pic) 255-85-16 tires M/T

I like the 285's but that is MY preference.

I would go 285's for rock, sand and street use and 255 for mud.

I would find a defender with the tires you want and go for a test ride before you buy. ( I wonder how I know this?)

I like 285/75s, I just like the look of them. As for tires I like Interco TrXus Mud Terrains. I ran them in the 285/75 for a wile on my D90 and loved them. I currently have them on my RRC in the 265/75 size and they do very well, I think that is what I am going to run on it for the rest of the time I own it. I currently have 265/75 GY MTR's on my 90 now and they suck. As soon as they wear out I am going back to the 285 trxus mt's.

I dig the 285 size. I just wish they made MT's in that size. The blue truck has 285's, the green truck in the back has 255's.

Humph. I thought BFG did not, but I looked it up and proved myself wrong. Go figure.

I could have sworn I couldn't get the BFG's in 285 a couple years ago, but there it is...

Brain fart.

FWIW, might be hard to find BFG's MT's right now, as I have been told anyway. heard the new BFG MT looks more like a swamper/crawler tire, and should be released soon, according to the local BFG dealer I spoke to recently.
