Perforated metal sheet - best pattern for max air flow ?

Is it as simple as checking the percentage of open area
or there is more to it ?

In any case, what would be the best pattern to get maximum
air flow, round or oval holes, lined up or staggered, etc ?

If someone know where to buy some also, that would be great .

Thanks
