Passenger Hand Grip

I get a lot of complaints from passengers that there's nothing to hold onto, as my truck bounces about. I've got the steering wheel, but on the passenger side, there's really nothing. The positioning isn't right with either the grip at the side of the dash or on the door. I've looked into the roll-cage-mounted grips Raingler sells (http://www.raingler.com/shop/products.asp?catID=15), but these all require reaching out the window.

Has anyone developed a solution to this?

Maybe do up a lap bar like on a carnival ride?

Seriously though, I'm not sure where to put one either. Not much in the way of stong enough structure in places where it would be convenient. The hardtop isn't really strong enough for anything overhead, and the dash area I don't think will work either for a CJ style bar in front of the passenger.

You would almost have to build some type of support structure for a GOOD grab handle. Maybe something coming up next to the seats from the side?

A friend in Denver made a handle that went between the passenger seat and center console....looked kind of like an extra park brake handle...it seemed to work and was fairly unobtrusive. Unfortunately I have no pictures or any way to get them.

I took one of the two stock handles that is over my rear door and put it inside above the pass seat. I fished around with a needle to find the steel lip under the headliner, then drilled a couple small holes and used self tapping screws to mount it. So far it has held, even after three years of folks grabbing on it pullling themselves up into the truck. Fingers X'd.

Trevor, same rig might work in your ST -- I'm sure they don't cost much, and you could source from RN or BP. Just drill and tap somewhere appropriate in your rig!

Thanks for the feedback. Here's what I've decided to try first: http://www.tellico4x4.com/catalog/pr...69f7c27a34270e, mounted to the front edge of the crash pad. I'll see how sturdy that turns out....
