Parts Needed to Convert to a Soft Top?

What are all the parts needed to convert to a soft top? I think there is a rail in the front on the top of the windshield, and two rails on top of each door, but other than that, I have no clue what you need to put a soft top on correctly.

Also, once you have the soft top parts, how hard is it to switch back to a hard top? This is all for a Tithonus Defender so I am aware that some parts may not be the same, like the canvas which needs to be a bit taller. Any help would be appreciated.

PA Blanchard quoted me 1100 gbp for everything. I'm thinking if I piece together the parts used, I could save a bit of money there.

All wheel trim has the bits and if you search and there is a member doing nice heavy duty soft top frames down in NC. A quick search will locate the posts.

Lots of threads on this if you search. There's even a non-Tithonus Defender write up or two in the FAQ section out of the forum.

The Tithonus has a Wolf SD Cage and requires completely different parts than other Defenders. I doubt you will find any used stuff. The soft top itself is also completely unique, and are very difficult to find. I have an order in with the original manufacturer, and they cannot tell me when they will be built. The MOD is taking all they can make, and they have priority. We are doing a soft top conversion right now on one, and it is a bit of a pita.

I have both tops for my Defender. The entire roll cage is different between hard and soft tops. I bought an entire used soft top cage, installed the belt rails, the windshield rail, and the door rails. Now it takes me about 3 hours to do the conversion from hard to soft in the spring and vice versa in the fall. Also, which doors do you have? I have a POE truck with 2 piece doors (front and cargo). It makes a difference since you will atleast need the 2 piece rear door.

Talk to the guys a Badger. They can offer you the parts, the top, and some great help on how to save money rather than buying an entire cage. Good luck!

We are talking X-MOD Tithionus/Wolf 110. Not NAS, ROW, home market,or regular X-MOD. As stated in my former post, the parts needed are totally unique, except for the tail door. Badger will not have the bits on hand . Neither will any of the U.S. parts vendors. Chris could make you a custom top, but you would probably need to bring him the vehicle so he can take measurements. I just might do that with one of mine.

I went to a facility selling off a couple Tithionus cages thinking it would be an easy score/application for s/t 110s- WRONG!! Ken is absolutely right in that those cages are so different it isn't worth the bother. However, if you want a 'tailored' top, Chris is the way to go. But if you want typical military fit, most any boat shop or custom shop should be able to keep you relatively dry

Still looking how to accomplish this. I'd like a sand color with windows and roll up sides.

Badger - I talked to them and they don't make tops for the Tithonus. If someone takes their Tithonus to them to make a top, maybe he could make an extra for me, or anyone else interested

PA Blanchard - They sell a really nice top for about 1400gbp shipped to the US with all parts to attach it. Problem is it doesn't have the roll up sides which I love. I'm wondering if I can get this customized after it is here?

OEM - Can't find these anywhere. Ken said that he is having some made through the manufacturer but the army has a priority so this could take a long time.

Rovers North (Exmoor) - Looks like they won't be able to make them.

Parts needed. 2 gutters behind the doors, 2 above them, the windscreen rail. I still don't know if the Tithonus hardware parts are special, or if these parts are the same.

Still scratching my head.

You could pull the roll cage off and a regular 3 door 110 setup would work. You would just need a seatbelt bar which is a few hundred bucks used or have a local shop build you one.

The roll cage is one big reason why people buy the Tithonus. It's got to stay, but good suggestion.

Someone just got this Tithonus from PA Blanchard. This is the top they supply, which I really like. The size of the windows is nice. But it doesn't roll up like the pics you shared.

Ok, just so everyone that is interested in doing this conversion for a Tithonus knows. The most recent thing I have heard is that all the parts to convert a Tithonus to a soft top are all the same as any other Defender soft top conversion.

You need the gutters, the windscreen rail, the bars that go around the windows and some hardware to attach. I also believe it is the same hardware for a Defender 90.

The ONLY unique part in this conversion is the soft top itself. And it is a bitch to find. Good luck, and please correct me if I'm wrong here.

I have done this conversion to my truck. Ken is right as I helped him source his parts. I don't know who gave you that information but it is wrong.
Here is some ok pics
If you get a proper Wolf top your sides roll up. If you look closely at the pics you posted you will see the tabs on the outside of the top.

Wow, so that looks completely different! The gutters are totally different and mount to the roll cage. Thanks so much for posting.

And scratch my last post. The only thing that appears to be the same is the windscreen rail. Everything else is Tithonus/Wolf only. Thanks, those pics helped a ton.
