Part ID ? Under lower swivel pin

came with my 'new' swivel housings. Two flathead screw threw it and retain the lower swivel pin. Big heavy bar. Small tab mounts the brake sheild.

What the heck is it for? Left it off for now.

figured it might be something like that.

So worth putting back in I guess. To dampen some harmonic of some sort. Like there aren't a thousand other vibrations....

thanks

I have seen them before. I thought they just held on the brake shield.

I seem to remember them on my '94 d-90, but my memory is dim. I only ever did brakes on that truck, never got into the swivels, so no clear memory of them in my hands. Funny how working on cars makes for deja vu memories.

no part shown in my 1987-2001 parts catalog. Wierd.

wait.....big heavy weight mounted under the diff? The Earth?

I think they go with the big rubber damper disc thing on discos and RRCs now that I think about it because the NAS 110 axles don't have them and niether do the D90 ones.

Yup, Harmonic Damper Weights.

My 96 D1 has the round heavy weight on the front diff housing and those long weights on the swivels. My 97 D90 has the long weights on the swivels but not the round weight on the diff. My 98 D1 has both the swivel and the diff weights again. So I guess some 97 D90s had them on the swivels and some didn't.

Glad the D90 doesn't have the diff weight as they are really, really easy to knock off.......

Early/Mid 80s and early 90s Euro RRCs didn't have either, nor did mid 80s Euro D90s. At least not the ones I have owned.
