parking lights come on when brakes are pressed!?

hello all! i just noticed that all of a sudden when i press the brakes, the front parking and side lights come on, of course only when the headlights are off. all the lights, work correctly, backup lights, brake lights etc. i recently replaced a brake light bulb, could that have done it? and if so, why?

thanks

Mine did this, but at the same time my brake lights weren't working properly. I had corrosion in the rear light connnections, and when I spliced in new ones, the issue stopped.

Since it is effecting both front and rear lighting I would look at the light switch and then your grounds.

Any idea on which ground to look at first? I assume the tail lights?

The ground for the lights.... LOL. Look for a common ground for the lights. Basically the electricity goes from the brake light ground into the ground of the other lights and turns them on. The common ground is not connecting to the vehicle ground and the battery.

You have a main ground at the engine side bulkhead and another ground in the area of the chassis harness where it comes out of the frame or by the RH rear harness inside the tub. Some of these grounds have multiple wires, all black in color. Look at the connection but also at the wire itself. You may have to cut the wire back a bit to get to a good non-corroded wire. You will be able to see the copper wire turning green to black if it is bad.

Found the problem. A week ago i came out of the restaurant & noticed my tail light out in the reflection of a building so i pulled the reverse bulb to get home. Few days later go to napa & new bulb but i put it in the reverse lamp. Well as you all know the brake light bulb has two filaments & the reverse bulb only one. So after a few days of driving i guess it blew the FUSE & started the problem. Only when i noticed the tail light out again did i check the bulb & it was fine so i knew it had to be the fuse from using the single filament bulb. Thanks for the suggestions everyone!
