Parking brake retrofit advice

Got the D1 transfer case installed yesterday (huge thanks to Bill Campbell, Ray and Patrick). Next issue is to figure out what to do about a parking brake. The existing parking brake cable bracket will not bolt to the D1 LT230 short of drilling and tapping the case. Which would be a pain. I have a D2 cable and the majority of the parking brake assembly, though not enough to actually actuate the brake or attache the cable to the drum. in this thread: http://www.defendersource.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18269&highlight=d2+parking+brake
it appears relatively simple to retrofit the D2 cable to an NAS 110 handle -- so it would appear that my best course of action would be to source a complete D2 Parking brake assembly and throw it on there. Other options include the x-eng disc brake (which seems to be expensive overkill) or wheel chocks. Thoughts?

Tony

Not quite, need to rebuild the D2 shaft for it and get the parking brake figured out so that the rear shaft can go on. I did run her through the gears, though, and things that are supposed to spin spin.

tony. why not use your 110 front shaft?

handbrake from a disco 1 should work, same exact parts as what is on my tdi gearbox. get the one where the cable goes directly into the backplate.

Going with a d2 shaft because I had the flange, Ray's hooking me up with the shaft and with 2 inches of lift it can't hurt.

Tillery's trying to dig up a D2 brake now, I'll see if he has a D1 brake

did some checking think the d1 cable is shorter. but the 90/110 one looks like it has the same end.
