Parking Brake Light

I noticed tonight that my parking brake light comes on when I start the car but it then shuts off even if the parking brake is on. Could something be loose?

Loose or more likely the switch is out. A lot of people replace the switch, but I have successfully repaired my switch and one of my friends. Both of our springs broke in the carrier. The plunger is easy to take out--just slightly and carefully pry the sides back just enough to slip the catch by. Our springs were in two pieces. I used a spring from a push-button pen and cut off a small part of it to make them the same length. Working on about 3 years of the "refurb"...

Take the boot off the handle--you will see it screwed to the side of the lever. Two screws hold the lever onto the seat box.

Yeah--the wire comes through the seat box between the two retaining bolts and it is a simple spade connector which could have worked loose as well (but so far I have just seen switch failures).

I need to address this issue with my truck. Whats the best way to access the switch, through the center seatbox panel or from underneath?
