I painted mine a while back, my D90 is alpine white...I tried black at first with Krylon plastic paint and did not like the contrast on a small surface area.

When I first purchased the top it had a crack from the side to almost the center of the top. I repaired the crack, re-inforced the top from the inside and gelcoated both the inside and outside. I then sanded everything smooth to get rid of the cheesy grain affect look.

It then was painted alpine white and clear coat on top, I'm very happy with the results and it is many times better than the factory original in my humble opinion.

I will post some pictures when I get a chance tonight.

Justin,
I had a shop paint the outside AA Yellow and the inside white, which made it a heck of a lot brighter inside and look more factory rather than a throw on hard top. I can take a send some pictures if you like. I may even have some on my hard drive if you shoot me an pm with your email address.

Guys,

I also painted mine white inside and out and just as Clay mentioned the interior is much brighter and cooler.

Do you mind me asking what something like that costs?

Has anyone ever put a headliner in their fiberglass top?

I can say for me it was just a matter of buying all the materials and doing the work myself.
The cost for materials was under 150.00 from what I can remember but incuded extra paint & clearcoat for other future projects.

Follow-up Post:

(Headliner) not me..

After I did the prep, the shop charged me like 450 to shoot the paint, including materials.

Jim's price sounds about fair. I paid $1,200 because I had a puzzle top with lot's of glass repair.
**What you may want to also consider is that I had the underside of the roof shot with a noise reducer and then had white painted over it.

I had the shop rebuild a broken top and paint it body color I thought of going with the white roof pannel. if I were to do it again I think I would.
