Paint that takes abuse

So I've been mulling over slapping on some fresh paint. The trail damage is adding up and it is starting to look like shat.

What do people think would be the best type of paint to resist damage on the trail? I don't care if the paint looks perfect. It does not need a mirror finish.

Is it legal to spray Imron in your area?

I don't know of any laws against it. We've sprayed lots of Polyurethane at work in the past.

Imron that is available today is a mere shadow of what the original Imron was. Due to environmental regulations it has been neutered to the point to where it is no better than a good grade base coat/clear coat. I used it on the frame of my 34 and I was not impressed. I could have done better with a BC/CC.
