Paint code

Hey, does anyone know where the paint code is on the D90 ST, I need to do some cosmetic work and need the code for Alpine white, and the black used on the bumpers. Thanks - Andrew

Alpine White

I think the code for Alpine White is LRC456/NUC-Just ordered some Coniston Green so I have the paint codes. As far as the black I just used a flat black paint.

I also used a generic black on my bumper. Semi-gloss though.

Hello all:
Does anyone know the LR factory paint code/description for the semi-gloss black paint used on the bumpers/cage? I've searched through the FAQ here, ECR website, Paintscratch, Google, et al. and can't seem to locate it.

I know a generic semi gloss would work fine, but feel compelled to use the factory shade...

Many Thanks.

I don't know the code, but it's usually called "satin black".

You can still order Alpine White in a spray can for touchup from the dealer! I ordered a couple cans about 6 months ago!

Is it base coat? Can you clear coat it after or is it single stage?

Single Stage I believe. I haven't used it yet, in fact I haven't even opened the boxes it came in yet.

One of the local car parts shop here mixed the color based on some sort of color codes from a database. Color was Alpine white, problem was after my 110 spent 13 years outdoors, it was a little too white to match. When I do my hinges, I plan to have a shop color match rather than go with the "original" color.

Called two dealers today, one in RI and one in MA, both said the spray cans are no longer available. Any other ideas for sources? If not I guess I'll try an auto body shop. So much for hoping for an easy way out.

I got some LR shake-n-spray from Rovers North with a set of replacement hinges. Then later a custom mixed (based on vehicle lookup) from carquest (www.carquest.com). The product from CarQuest was a far better quality, although not inexpensive either.

I also called RN, they no longer stock the spray cans. Thanks for the other lead.

That seems strange...I just ordered them through the dealer where I work only a couple months ago. Sorry.

More and more auto paint suppliers are offering color matched paint in spray cans. My local shop asks $25/can. Not bad when you consider that it's a custom color.

To clear coat or not?

Ordered new style door hinges for my 94 ST from RDS. Got the primer, base, and clear coat kit from PaintScratch.com. Two coats of primer; 6 hours appart. 3 coats of base Alpine White; 3 hours appart. Now the question: to clear coat or not?

From reading the various posts it sounds like the 94s sis not come with any clear coat in Alpine White. Will the clear coat protect better than with it?

Should I work over the base paint with the compount that is in the kit if I decide not to clear coat. They tell you to compound the clear coat but make no mention of the base coat.

Any input would be greatly appreciated,
