Overlandbirds needing storage in New York.

Hi there,

we are in need of a place in New York area to store our Defender whilst we go home at Christmas for about 7 weeks. Outside storage is OK.

Rather than go into the full story you can see what we've been up to on www.overlandbirds.com we are currently in the San Diego Land Rover Clubs garage getting stuff fixed but the flight from here to home are damn expensive. Newark is MUCH cheaper and we plan on visiting all 49 states so a run over there is no problem.

Can you help ?
Thanks
Neill and Julie

I may be able to help you out, but it's out on Long Island about 1.5+ hrs from Newark.

That's not a problem as we can get a rental car to get us to the airport. We are planning on 4th December to 22nd Jan. That OK ?

If/now we have a least one serious offer I'm getting the ticket but of course not wanting to be ungrateful if something nearer comes up we might go to them. 1.5 hours isn't much considering we've been trucking for 2 years in 4 days time !

THANKS

Chris, we are getting so much better prices in Newark. Depending on this though you never know !

We might still be over here (CA) at some point though. Currently San Diego's Garage is home....we've been here nearly two weeks !!!

There are many here who are in NJ, and some who are very close to Newark, so you may hear from one of them in the next few hours if they have room.

I am 45 minutes away from the airport. My defender goes into the garage soon to be rebuilt onto a new chassis, yours could take its place in the driveway while that happens

If you decide to depart from JFK you're welcome to keep your Defender at my house. I'm 30-minutes from the airport on Long Island.

Thanks, that may be perfect if you think it will be ok that long on your drive over the winter, we can leave you with the key as long as you promise not to joyride!

But anybody with heated covered parking wins!

I'm about 40 minutes away. There is plenty of space in my driveway. I could probably give you a ride to and from the airport. I sent a pm with my contact info.

It'd be no problem, I've got decent sized driveway and I'll be taking my time on my build. Could start it up for you every so often just to keep things charged and flowing

Looks like we have a solution with Joshua. We will be in touch Joshua. We should be leaving California Thursday with a slow drive to NY for early December. All we need to do now is get the tickets for a good price.

Thanks to everybody who responded.

I have 4 cars in Queens... whats another. If your truck isn't lifted I could put it in a parking spot across from my building and we could pull my usual bait and switch move and get it out for only $10 when you get back

A few more offers via PM so we now have options. Thanks a million to all the people who offered. We will search for tickets and take the lowest option. Someone pointed out JFK might also be good and we have an offer of parking for that too.

Only with Land Rover do you get this. Do you think if i had a Dodge I'd get the same response. I think not ! It might be blowing my own trumpet but we (you) are really a good bunch.....THANKS!!!!

Yes, I've seen that. Strangely for one airline, Wednesday was better. For most its Tuesday but they're still too expensive. I mean I can fly to Madrid (which is farther) for less than London. There's no logic. The flights across the USA are horrendous so we are driving a hopefully not missing too much on the way. Covering 49 states isn't easy. Surely someones worked out the optimum route....i might Goggle that....
