Overfilling engine oil

There's a warning on the oil dipstick not to overfill. But what could happen if you did...?

I think you could blow out some seals or gaskets...

All depends on how far you overfill. If you get it high enough that the crank is dipping into it, you'll be churning a nice froth in the pan and eating up a lot of power. At high RPM, it may overstress the main bearings.
