Exclamation OMG....What just happen !!???

Drove home from a night out with friends, my D90 started to make a weird clunking/ tapping noise.
I had to back it up into the driveway and it was hard getting it in reverse...pulled forward a bit again to adjust my parking and tried to put it back in reverse when I heard ta awful crunching sound.
It starts right up and runs great....you can put it in gear, but the rattling and crunching noise returns AND it ain't going nowhere !! What just happen !!?? Is it my gearbox, drive shaft, tranny !!????

BTW..Happy New Year's everyone, from the looks of it, mine ain't gonna be so swell

Check that you transfer case selector is in the proper location IE not between high and low or part way in N.

Check everything external before ripping the gearbox out, could be the transfer box has been knocked out of gear,or a 1/2 shaft has let go. Does the hand brake hold OK?

Could be the front diff, front 1/2 shaft or CV joint too...

or it might be the gear box

From a safe distance get someone to watch the drive shafts while you try to drive off a short distance. If one of them spins freely (while hearing the crunching noise) then chances are the problem is in that axle that the drive shaft is connected to.

put the difflock in and try to move it. if it moves then its a halfshaft, diff, or a cv.

if it doesn't and still make alot of noise......put an auto in

G'Day, just do yourself a favour, bring the 90 down to me to the Rover Shop in Ft Lauderdale, no mattter what it is i have the parts in stock to fix it...I can even let you take either the multistrada 1000DS, the Elefant or the monster or almost any of the other bikes around (as long as your 5'4" self can touch the ground) and you can make a semi vacation of it and pick your car up done when you are done...LOL....
