oil questions!

hey guys i bought a defender about a week or two ago and i want to replace the diff fluids and transfer case fluid.
now my question is someone gave me the answer saying use ep90 for the TC and 90wt in the diffs. and i went to the auto parts store and there was nothing, all there was Gl-4 and GL-5 and just regular 80w-90 gear oil,
so what do i use?!?!?
thanks Dylan

Mobil 75-90 is what I use in the Defender. I use the cheapest 90wt I can buy in my Classic. What year is your Defender.

80W90 GL5 gear oil for diffs and TC. Don´t know what LT77 uses.

ok thanks, is there any yellow metals in the TC? because the GL5 is a corrosive for yellow metals like brass and what not.

i am an amatuer but I think the only brass in a defender is in the syncros lower end bearings and hopefully your radiator plug.

I think redline mtl in the LT77 will be fine, I am not sure. Youve got an older shitter LT230, maybe its an R380 thing but it needs good fluid. I overfill my transfercase about a half quart. This is all pretty elementary stuff for this board, there is a search feature that is quite useful. Please bump old threads with these questions.
