Oil pressure gauge

The oil pressure gauge on my 110 in reading just under 60psi which is almost max. I know there is no way I have that much oil pressure and the truck has 140k on it. I unplugged the sending unit and the gauge went back to zero(it also goes to zero when the motor is off). I am guessing it is the sending unit but at $125.00 I want to be sure before I order it.
Thanks, Mike

Thumbs up

Check out my VDO oil pressure install in the Small Projects section. A new VDO gage and sender will cost less than $125, plus it reads actual pressure...

Thanks, Mike. I like your setup but I am going to keep the stock gauge. I am hoping somone here has a troubleshootign plan for the sender.

How does one determine if the problem is with the sender vs. the gauge? Isn't there some sort of resistance you can measure with an ohm meter? Then, I guess the next step is to know what the proper measurements are. Otherwise it's 50/50 to buy a brand new part and swap it out on a hunch.
