Oil Filters....so many numbers!

I have been reading my searched posts for the past hour. Good instructions for my first oil change in the new (to me) 110 NA Diesel.

I learned a few things from the search, first was obviously don't start a debate on regular vs synthetic oil, LOL!

BUT, seriously... I'm curious about what oil filters will work. I see a ton of numbers/models being thrown around besides the Genuine filters.

Wix 51515 and two Napa Gold 1452 and 1068.

Id like to save some $ and not go Genuine if I can find an equivalent at a local parts store. I just dont want to buy the wrong thing.

The recommendation to me for living here in Maine was Rotella 10/40 or 15/40...sound OK?

Mucho thanks.

I currently have a Purolator PureOne PL30001 High capacity filter on my 2.5 N/A Diesel, picked it up at the local Pepboys and it fits no bother. The cheaper Purolator L30001 also fits.

If it is the same as the V8, the motorcraft FL1a (I think is is a). Works fine and has the anti drainback valve. When rover did not have genuine filters (yes this actually happened) LRNA told us to use these.

oil filters

not too sure about the NA diesels but the Napa gold 1068 works perfect on a 300 tdi

I also use 15/40 in probably a similar climate to you but on a different coast ( B.C. Canada )

X2. The Rotella 15/40 is fine, and either the NAPA or Wix (they make them for NAPA) works just fine. Running them on mine and all is good...in that area.
