Odd part number request ...

I can usually locate all my part numbers but this one leaves me with nothing.

I am looking for the part number for the two bearing (top and bottom) in the steering column of a Defender. One is a roller pin bearing and the other is a ball bearing.

If anyone can help I would be very happy.

Thanks everyone.

Pat

They're not available as separate items, BUT, you can remove them easily (well, after you've had a fight to get the whole column out)

So you can try and match them up with some replacements.

There was a thread on LR4x4 a while back (just tried searching for it but to no avail) where i think, at least one of the bearings was identified with a substitute.

Thanks Jim,

I guess I will have to figure out something on my own on this one as I cannot find anything relating to these parts.

I will definitely post the pat numbers and what not once I have this puzzle solved.

Usually on the edge of the bearing outer ring, is a part number (stamped or etched into the metal). A good bearing shop can locate a replacement from that number. The race (inner part) will usually have a number too, as for any given bearing the shaft going through the ID can vary, yet use the same bearing.

Has anyone had luck finding these? One of mine broke (who puts thin races inside a rubber collar anyway...) and the other is crunchy.

GBS Bearing in Ottawa had:

5BC 10.09CAD
11590 25.75CAD
11420 10.52CAD

but they tell me that NP224896 is only available through Timken dealers located in .uk or .fr and suggested Eriks Group as a place to source them. If I am going to bring in some I might as well bring in a bunch if anyone else needs them.
