now... a loud squealing noise...

I just put 'er back together after changing the water pump that finally came in, and the good thing is, is that it doesn't leak a drop, but the BAD news is that there is this loud howling noise coming from the engine. (belt ?... I've searched and read about the soap thing but haven't tried it yet, and it ran fine before except for the water pump leaking... and I'm wondering if I maybe got some grease on them ?... don't know)...

All my fluids are good, the belts are tight, I believe I put everything back together properly, but the noise is damn loud and it won't go away...

Any ideas ?

Thanks in advance.

wet belts can scream like a banshee, did you change the belt or is the same as before?

Could also be too much, or too little, tension on one of the belts.

Hans,

Thank you for the input... Yes I believe I either wet the belt or got some grease on it.
I did the soap trick... About 1/3 bar of Lever 2000 and that cleared it up.

Finally... I have my D running !

Now onto the next phase of maintenance... The transfer case output seal, but from what I hear it's not so bad.

Thanks again.

Nicholas
