NJ Diesel Mech needed

Still have not found a good diesel mechanic in Northern NJ to work on the Rover...Their is a Diesel performance shop in Caldwell NJ (Auto Wurks) however they primarily deal with the american pick-up market...

I essentially need the boost diaphragm replaced (I have the part), an EGT probe installed and then to tune the engine once the gauge is installed...

Rolf's in Summit I hear is good, but he mainly does NAS gas trucks...

I would rather not go tooo far but open to ideas...

Try Randy - TDI Guy here on this site I think. I have only heard great things about him but not sure of his work-load or what size jobs he tackles.

Maybe a Mercedes diesel mechanic could do it? From what I understand the Rover diesels aren't complicated and it doesn't sound like what you are looking to do is that crazy.

I'd pass in on Rolf's... I used to live in Summit.... not crazy about the place. Any mechanic that works on 300td's should be able to do the work.

Any heavy equipment place should be able to do the work; I'd provide the workshop manual and let them follow the instructions; it's a mechanical diesel; essentially it's a piece of farm machinery anyway

Its a bit of a hike, but Stauffer diesel in Ephrata, PA does work on everything. I think the TDI engines have a regular old Bosch mechanical injection pump.

If you've got the repair manual (aka, all of the specific numbers) then it should be fine.

Actually, pretty much any American diesel shop should be able to help you. Just tell them its mechanically injected and that you've got the workshop manual with all of the info.
