new VDO gauges sway like crazy

So I just did the VDO gauges... Speedo, fuel and temp. All work, all register where they are supposed to... That is if you average between where they sway. The speedo sways about 5-7 MPH in each direction (and while slowing down to a stop it stops at 5 MPH, and then just drops), the fuel gauge sways about 1/8 of a tank (1/4 tank around turns) and the temp gauge sways about 2mm each direction of 180 degrees.

Serious, wtf? This is becoming the biggest goddam headache. Any input would be appreciated, because I`m about ready to drive this f*cking thing off a cliff.

Since they are all doing it, I'd look for common sources. I'd check for a bad connection in the positive lead maybe or a corroded/burned wire somewhere. You also may be dealing with a system-wide voltage fluctuation as well, which could be a loose belt on the alternator or the voltage regulator may be on the way out. Is the tach doing anything odd?

But the fuel gauge, it's probably going to keep doing that. Very, very few aftermarket gauges are dampened and the fluctuation you are seeing is the fuel splashing around in the tank.

Yes, Visions.

The odd thing is that the tach (which is also VDO, but an older version) is perfectly steady.
