New to the game with questions

Hi guys. Just got my first 97 soft top Defender tonight and am ready to get in the mix here. I have a series of very dumb questions which are in part because I have no operators manual and in part because I am new to the Defender scene. Hope you all can help and hope this is in the right section of the forum.

1. Anyone have a 97 owners manual, or PDF of the manual
2. Anywhere I could get a copy of the window sticker from my defender
3. Where would I find the reset code for the stock stereo and is there a cheat to reset it without the code?
4. Anyone have rear seat belts or know where I could get them?
5. The top part of my soft top door have a couple of dimpled push outs. As if something inside the door like a nail or rivet is pushing out from the inside toward the outside of the door? Is that related to the window piece being installed incorrectly?
6. How the heck do to get the soft top door windows off the doors?

That's it for now. I know some of this stuff might be in the manual which I don't have. I'm hoping some of you might clue me in as I get my skills honed. Thank you.
Mark

Rule #1 Post pictures first - ask questions second.

Rule #2 Has something to do with the search function being someones friend - but I really can't remember the rest.

Rule #3 Crap, I never can remember the third thing on any given list.

Rule #4 Post pictures of cool new truck.

Lol you do have to be a glutton for punishment to post on this board. Extensive fact checking yourself before someone else calls you out on it

#5. Someone probably tried to use a hammer to remove the door window by hitting on the studs from underneath.

I'm surprised no one has said this, but replace your oil cooler lines.

Rule one: Skin at least as thick as the Aluminum on your Land Rover is needed.
Rule Two: post pics of your truck and it's Badge number! We might know it already.
Rule Three: Maintain a sense of humor. Breakdowns are your Land Rover's way of playing April Fools joke.

I guess this has been a somewhat warm welcome? Ah roughing the freshman. I understand. Nice to see how active the gang is. Some forums have 1-2 messages a week. Instant feedback. A good thing.

Photo attempt one.

And photo attempt two.

Truck 411

Single owner. 18k miles. Southwest born and raised. Shipped this week to the joy of Illinois.

Residing next to the evil rival...1976 FJ40... And making the old FJ look pretty sad. Every woman's fear...replacement by a newer model.

Looking forward to getting to know you and discovering the Defender. Be patient w me. I'm starting at zero.

Welcome! That was the Rule #3 I was trying to think of - change the oil cooler lines! Also there is a MidWest Rover event coming up in May I would suggest you attend that weekend as you will have a great time, meet alot of people and learn a whole lot about your truck. http://www.defendersource.com/forum/...ad.php?t=52473

You might call it a flaw in the design...

I'll look into the oil lines tomorrow. Any easy step by step guide on this project?

Don't replace them with original (although, some will debate this), but go with these.
