New speedo dialed up?

Is it possible to dial up a new factory speedo? For instance, if my truck has xxx,xxx amount of miles, but the odo breaks, can I replace and dial it up to correct mileage?

Sure, call a local speedo shop and they can do it. I have used North Hollywood Speedo and been pleased. $75 to set a defender odometer last I spoke to them.

Was the unit you sent for a 97 or an earlier mechanical version? What was turnaround time?
Thx

I have sent both digital and mechanical.

I think they turned them around in a week or so

Thanks for the info, I think I may just need my odo part rebuilt as the speedo works, just not the odo. I will give them a ring!

If you are now talking about the required fix for a broken 97 odometer, that's a whole new conversation. Search it as there is plenty of posts on it. Last I heard NHS was making that repair.

If it stuck at 100k, you can open it up and turn it over to work again.

Thanks for the info, do you mean just open up and try and turn or dial it up manually? This should correct the odo and make it run again?

This was done (not by me) on one I owed. I am not sure how exactly as I have not done it, but the PO said it was just pry open and roll forward.

You have to remove the black bezel .... Pry it off gently with a screw driver... It goes back on but takes a bit of tweaking.

Soapy water / KY jelly, etc. is is basically a must. Yes, good idea to remove trim panels - only takes 5 more minutes to do so.
