new rear diff... metal bits
About 5000 miles on a trutrac in the rear sals.... Re-used gears and new carrier bearings.
Oil changed at 200mi, then 1000.... not much metal a few shavings on the magentic drain plug.
I just drained it again and there was quite a bit on the magnet and visible metal bits in the oil... what gives?
No sounds or symptoms. Is it worth checking the preload on the pinion bearing? how tight for the crush sleeve?
Front diff had a bit of metal but nothing like the rear.
Any thought appriciated.... normal break in?
