new problem, exhaust maybe?

So, this truck's been trouble free for a couple years now. Today doing about 60mph when letting off the throttle I get a brief resonance, sounds like low groan, lasting 1/4 second maybe. Back on the throttle and it happens briefly again. When at speed nothing. When doing about 40, hardly noticeable.

After I stop, rev the motor, let off it and there's a "pop" at the exhaust Not a misfire just a "burp" really. I don't recall having that before so I'm thinking exhaust leak

If after a few days it sounds like rocks rattling in a can I say one of your cats are bad. If the Exhaust is pretty clean look for black spots on it indicating a hole.

Aren't cats warranteed for 100K miles? I've got about 95K on mine.

I wonder how often and how soon these fail???

Perhaps tapping them on the side can diagnose this? I wish I had a portable emissions tester, that would tell me very easily.

Well, time to search for replacements just in case...

I think they go anyplace from 80k to 120k most of them seem to die in that area. You could try tapping them or shaking them. Most of the time they break up and sound horrible, the parts rattling inside sound like rapping lifters.
