New owner saying hi...and also a question on safari rack

Hi guys. A few months ago I picked up a 97 Defender with 46k miles. 2nd owner.

At any rate when I picked the truck up it didnt have the safari rack [think thats what its called]. Reason being the PO couldnt get it into his garage with it on/to tall. I currently have all the other bars on the truck like the rear ladder ect, but am wanting to put the safari rack on. Before I travel the 100 plus miles to pick it up can someone tell me the dimensions of the rack? How many inches tall is it?

Love the truck. Only thing I hate about it. Not enough places to get it dirty in RI

Thanks
Rob

Ok. Lowest part of my garage door opening is 93 inches. I get a measurement from ground to where the rack would mount of about 78 inches. I should be good.

Thanks so much for the help. Just didn't want to make the 200 mile round trip and not be able to get in my own garage.

One last thing. The truck is the LE. Something like 197/300. How many of the 300 are left/registry?

In my garage, the opening wasn't the problem, but it was the arm that attaches the opener to the door. I also didn't think about the fact that the arm has to move aft (over the highest part of the truck) and this made for a few tense moments and significant "modifications" of my garage door's arm. Not sure of your door style, but I'd make sure that there isn't something limiting height other than the opening.

I never thought of that, so I just went out to look. I am ok because it's a double door. I park about 6 inches or so to the right of any moving parts.

If you end up taking the basket off, some people have made custom pieces that will attach the rear ladder to the front bars. Crobinson on the board has a set for sale.
