Smile New member to Defender source

Hello everyone,
I own a defender 300 tdi from 1996, left-hand-drive.

It just happen that I am new to Defender's mechanics, electric and so on...

Head lights wont work, it comes from the fuse box under the bonnet I figure
Without the key in the ignition, I place a new 30A fuse in place and it "blow up" escuse my poor english I usually do the mechanics in French.
Any suggestion will help out.
Just so you know I went to buy those famous fuse 30A and they are pretty hard to find where I'm staying, so before trying to "blow up" another of this fuse, I like to know if I can check where the problem is with "electric volt tester", again I dont know the real name for this device...

Here I am to a very useful forum
Thanks for your help

I do need to learn how to repaire the Defender myself since I'm preparing a trip around the world with it.

Wow, this is great speed we are talking

But lights switch, we are talking? How should I test it?
Also in the passenger compartment, there is 3 Relays on the bottom left of the fuse box, which one is for the lights?

Thanks
Have a good road...

Find it ! thanks to Jeff, it was the comodo switch. I had to change it with a new one with white connectors on it.
I made it thru with the old black connectors. Seem to be a problem with the cigarette lighter ...
Thanks again
have a good road
