New here - Defender NAS build

Hey guys,

I've been transforming my Defender from a UK spec 90 van to a USA NAS version to fulfil a childhood dream of owning a replica of the 1997 USA press car that got loads of coverage when it came out.

A few more bits to do but here it is;

I need to get some proper USA headlight surrounds to get the indicators in the right place, if anyone can help please let me know.

Thanks all and comments welcome!

Beautiful work. Welcome to the forum.

I'll be in London in about a week or so, and I have a couple of NAS light surrounds you can have. One has a chip though in the corner. Both are faded but nothing some paint can't fix.

All you have to do is meet me in London and admit that the LA Galaxy is way better than Manchester United.

Noble aspirations! How far are you trying to go with it? Sunroof, auto console, NAS tub and rear lights, etc.?

That sounds cool Rankar, thank you! I'm in London next Friday, does that suit?

Rijosho - I'm doing the key bits such as cage, lights, wheels, etc but not going so far as swapping the tub.

Will get more pics up soon,

Owen:

I am doing a similar build here in the USA with an '85 Ninety V8 Station wagon. So far I've added NAS wheels, rear disc brakes, NAS style rear step bumper, NAS brush guard and black fender flares. Next month it'll get A/C, auto trans swap with Ashcroft console and go from its curent twin carb 3.5 V8 to a 3.9 fuel injected unit. I'm going to upgrade the headlights to LED (have them, just haven't done the install) and will go LED all round but stay UK spec size. I likely won't add an exo cage but will add an OEM roof rack. Like you, I've always liked the NAS look. I'd love to bring in a 50-yr anniversary V8 but they won't be eligible for a few years.

FYI, you mis-spelled Manchester in your sig.

Cheers,

Paul.

I get into Heathrow Sunday 10/5 morning on the red eye. Send me a pm and let's coordinate.

BTW, I must have missed the part when you mentioned that the LA Galaxy is way better than Manchester United.

I suspect this is the NAS 90 that was inspiration for the build.

That's a 95 ...

Nice looking truck OP ... I'd remove the running boards, rear light guards and body colored wheel arches and it will look much better.

Yep, thats the one!! Well, thats an official shot, LR USA had a very similar spec for the press car they had in 1997 so i'm going for that look

I may leave the running boards on and they fit with the front and rear bar theme. No light guards at the back so far but may fit some at some point. I'm leaving the rear bumper bars on and not fitting a NAS one as I like it how it looks now (Will take some rear shots for you guys shortly) Will also leave the spare wheel in the trunk rather than on the rear door for security.

I am enjoying the build so much, even if it is taking some time to get all the details perfect how I want them. Just got to get the interior up to standard and some rear benches fitted now and it'll be nearly there!

Onwards..

Cheers all

P.P.S - Wheel arches i'm undecided on as to whether to take them off and replace with black or leave as-is as I think they look cool.

Will let you know how my thoughts go on this.

Splendid. Your password has been received.

You are to show up in London anytime after Oct 4 (don't worry, we're already tracking you). Upon your arrival, an attache will meet you and present you with an option: earl grey or traditional afternoon. you will ask for organic lemon. a car will then pull up and you will enter the car with your attache. you will be blindfolded, please do not feel uncomfortable, you are safe.

Upon arrival at the undisclosed location, you will exit the car. You will be left alone for ten minutes. Then, a courier will arrive with a package. The package will contain your surrounds. Look for a passerby at this moment, he will nod to you, with the satisfaction that you have received your surrounds. This will be me. Please do not approach me, this is not advisable and not safe.

A Fiat Croma with a tourist couple will appear, asking for directions to Solihull. You will respond with the phrase, "le etat c'est moi." The couple will nod and tell you to get in. You will lay down in the back seat and take a nap. You will be transported to your home.

I'll pm you with an alternate arrangement.
