Need some advice on Nato rims

Hi,

I'm hoping someone might have Nato rims or 16 rims on there 90. I'm wanting to put Nato rims on my 90, and then I wanted to put Dick Cepek Tire on, but the company is tell me not to because they fill I need at least 17.5 rims. But my buddy at Roves, Eric told me I will be fine.. Any comments...

I'd just rethink that particular tire.

Hi Kevin

I'm not attached to that tire, just thought it looked nice and I will mainly drive my d90 in the city and in the snow. Do you have another tire you might recommend?

tks

Sorry, I just remember that tire(which is a very old design) on lifted Blazers back in the '80's. They are not very good offroad. For your uses I'm sure they would be OK but given my druthers I'd go with Nitto Terra Grapplers. I have a set on my wifes Land cruiser and it has been a tank in the snow and they are wearing very well.

Yep, and you can beat that price easily.

I've been running 285/75 BFG MTs on NATOs for about four years now. I ran them in the snow for two Utah winters and had no problems, though they want to dig down when driven in deep, deep snow. My tires are siped and that improved winter driving and has helped the tires last longer.

I put the Terra Grappler on my Nissan Titan right before Xmas and I was bragging to everyone about how well they did in the snow this past winter. I went in for some BFG ATs but they didn't have any and I was kinda bummed. But when I left the tire shop after a few more inches of snow had accumulated, I was very impressed. I was leaving fresh tracks in up to ten inches of snow, on pavement, with no problems at all. I have since put about 6000 miles on them and they look no worse for the wear.

It is nice to hear others have had good luck with them as I have never heard of them before.

I have a friend running BFG's A/Ts on his 90 and his wife's P38 Rangie, and he got 80K out of the last set, and when he replaced them ... a guy put them on his Range Rover Classic and got another 30K out of them.

They are virtually indestructible and have about the same tire tread as the ones you were considering.

Personally, I ran BFG MT's on my 110 and 90 and loved them but they are louder than the AT's.

Hope that feedback helps.
