Need a transfer case

OK, to throw it out there, I know nothing about vehicles, much less a transfer case. There isnt a Land Rover Dealer less than 2 hours away, and my mechanic, is good, but new at the rover thing. So, what I do know , is he says my 1994 D90 needs a T-case, but doesnt know how to go about getting one... What Im asking is , anyone know where one can be bought? What about rebuilt? Crossover from Discovery? Obviously, I want to go the least inexpensive route to get the job done, but not so worried about price as, effectiveness. As always thanks for the input, Thomas

Will Tillery should have used ones for a good price, and I think he guarantees them.. Plus, he's in Danville.. call him up and see.

I have a spare you can borrow with about 50K on the clock.

I've got two. They are cheap and readily available. Paul Grant on discoweb has them, I know Will just got a DI in so give him a call. A DII box will have CDL 99,00,04 but you will have to swap the rear section for the speedometer drive.

Why does your mechanic that knows nothing about rovers assume you need a new transfer case, I am betting its the gearbox.

They are a snap to rebuild. I did it without a press, so having one would be even easier.

I have one I can sell you. It came off a 96 Disco tdi and was mated to an R360. As far as I know, it had 156k on it. It came off a good running truck and I am still using the engine and gearbox it was mated to.
I replaced the seals on it but I decided to re-use the one on my 99SD when I did the diesel swap.
Its in Columbia SC at present but I basically live in Ashe County, just up the road from you...so I could bring it up easily enough.

Steve
