NAS Defender LED Lights

I have grown tired of the on again off again nature of the Defender light recepticals. Even though I have replaced many of the light fixtures, the bulbs don't stay in contact with the hot parts and my running lights take sabaticals when they feel the need to do so.

I am interested in replacing them with LED lights but have only found one supplier. Rover antics, I am not crazy about what I have seen in that the base of the light fixture is different from stock. The ones ECR uses are nice but I don't know if I can get them direct or have to order them from ECR.

Anybody know of any sources. I would like to keep the square rear tail lights since they are correct for the NAS model.

Thanks.

I dont have ECR lights but I have replaced my running lights with a LED cluster bulb that I bought off Ebay. So far so good and they are tons brighter than the stock light. I also replaced the interior lamp with a flat board with something like 40 LED's attached, it plugs straight in to the existing receptacle. Ebay has tons of LED bulbs at cheap prices. So far the cheapo bulbs are holding their own and I have been very pleased with them.

Thanks, I will look into that option.

Did you have to change your blinker relays with the LED lights?

No, some of the LED's for sale on EBay will say they are compatible with no retrofit for the relay. I figured at just a few $ I would take the chance. Some of the bulbs have one contact on the back and some have two. Make sure you are getting the bulb with the correct contact for the job before you buy. Most come from China but it takes about 5 days to arrive. I'm no expert when it comes to electronics, I'm just experimenting and seeing what works and what doesn't.

I used Superbrightleds to replace all the dash lights with LED's, but I bought the set from ECR for the tail lights and couldn't be happier. I bought the Basic DIY kit and bought the plinths and the reverse light from the Dealer. The clear LED is outrageously priced, so IMO this is the way to go.

Our supplier is Truck-Lite UK, you can get them from any Truck-Lite authorized dealer in the UK, but not directly from Truck-Lite UK as they are a wholesaler.
There are no fully sealed LED options for the square 93-93 NAS rear lamps, as they only make 24 volt versions. So if you want square LEDs you will need to do as others said here, and just install LED bulbs in your stock lamps.
There are also cheaper, unsealed round LED units available from other sources, like Europa in the UK, but these retain water just like the regular round lights so I never saw the point of that personally.

ECR is not a parts source. We are not in the mail order business.

Both my 94s never had issues with water in the bulbs, unlike the current 1995 that has at least 10 ROs for bulb out water ingress. I am considering putting 1994 style lights on my 1995, but it appears the holes in the tub are different.

Mike, do you have more LED kits available?

I found an option for the square led's. Minor modification to fit the factory housings. Fully sealed. 12V. Priced at a fraction of the Truck-Lite units. I can take a pic if you're interested.

John, Please! I would love to see what you came up with. I am very happy with the units from ECR, but I looked into an led option for the stock square lights and didn't see anything I really liked, so I am very interested in what you have come up with.

Pics as requested. It's hard to tell from the pic but the backside of the lamps are totally sealed.

Which dash lights did you replace? I have looked at these before but got thoroughly confused as to which ones I needed. do you remember which models they were?

Ok, shooting from memory...

The Fuel, Temp & Speedo Gauges use the T13-G6. (Speedo uses 2)

The Tach Uses a BA9S-G4.

The Defroster, Hazard & Heated Windscreen use 1 74-G & 1 74-R each.

I don't remember if your switches are the same style, or what they control though. Also, the 110 clock is entirely different, so I am not sure if the bulb would be the same, but I doubt it.

I know you don't have the heated windscreen, and I think you have a rear wiper switch instead, but I think the switch itself is different too, so I don't know if the bulbs will be the same. I am fairly certain of the instrument bulbs though.
