NAS defender 90 fiberglass hardtop washers

I am the proud original owner of my 1997 St defender 90. I have had my hard top off and on many times throughout my ownership. A few days ago I started installing the top and noticed I was missing the bag with the hardware to install the top. All of the bolts are easily replaced, but the rectangular stainless washers is a different story. I called my local dealer and they told me they are not available. Does anyone know where these can be purchased. Worst case scenario I can have them fabricated, but I figured I would ask here first.

Paul tried to help, but unfortunately he did not have the washers as well. I just had 100 washers fabricated. If anyone else needs them let me know and I can mail them to you, since I have plenty of extras now.

Dima, welcome to the forums and thanks for the very generous offer. I am sure there will be others in need of them!

Charles,
I did not have any options and had to order the 100 washers, since it was the minimum run the fabricator required. Even though the top only uses 10 washers, I knew I would have 90 extra's that someone else cold probably use as well. Almost all the washers are now sold. I was amazed how many pm's I received shortly after the post. Wish I knew about this forum years ago.

Also, one thing that I did was to go to the hardware store and buy a length of flat aluminum bar stock (I guess you could get stainless too). Then just cut short little sections of that and drill a hole in the middle. Perfect fit, although it's just a bit thicker than the washer. They work great.

Very nice of you to do.Would you mind posting a picture of the washers as a reference to what they look like?

Nice, I thought of that too and almost went that route, particularly on the bottom. I like the way it turned out, thanks for the pics.

Good guy

So I bought 8 of these washers from Dima and all that showed up was a torn envelope and an apology from the LA post office. I PMed Dima and told him the story. It was obvious that he shipped the washers and also obvious that the post office had mangled the envelope. Nevertheless, Dima said he'd get another 8 out to me at no charge. They arrived today and look great.

There's a lot of bellyaching going on about the new owner and all but this is what I like most about this "community." For the most part, we do the right thing in dealing with each other. As long as that continues, this will be a great place.

Any chance you might have some washers left. It seems the PO preferred the bare naked washer less and leaky look, as well as the weight savings of omitting a number of bolts. What size seems to work the best. Are they he same size for the top to he sides and the top to the windscreen header. Thanks for any information passed..
