My understanding is that all the abs ecu does is send back a false message saying everything is ok and that it performs no real function outside of that... it seemed that mine wasn't working so I disconnected it for a while and reconnected it about a month later, and after a day the check engine light went off and everything seemed to be working again.

We had "issues" with that on our '97 when I bought it.

As I understand, it's supposed to indicate a fault with the "rough road" sensor.

Since they were doing the work for free, I let the local dealer fuss with it several times.

Ultimately it turned out to be a bad ground that the ECU needed.

I hate to say anything in too loud a voice.....but it's been fine for the past eight years now.

Rough Road Sensors

On this subject......Has anyone ever found a way to eliminate or bypass the wheel sensors? I have a set of HD CVs without tone rings and get a code every so often. Is there a wiring "trick" or resistor that can be added to eliminate pain these sensors ceate.
