I am trying to replace my ST dome light (AFU4092L) with a LR original part and I can't get the light to fit properly. Looking at the new unit it looks like the end of the light unit should pop in by pushing in the tab on the end (see picture). It appears as if the tab on my unit is completely solid and won't "press in." Can someone please check their ST light unit and see if I possibly received a defective part. I don't want to force the light into the slot, I believe the upper dash trim is NLA.

Just "fixed" mine with large amounts of epoxy. One side has a solid and fixed tab, which you insert first, the other has a flex tab that allows it to be inserted and snap in behind frame to hold tight.

Hope this helps.

Exactly what I was looking for. Appears my unit has solid/fixed tab on both ends. Neither flex, therefore not allowing the unit to pop in. I will have to call Rovers North for a replacement.

Thanks

only the middel part of the tab deflects. Just remove the sun visors and trim to see the details of the matting parts.

While you are in there get a replacement LED bulb if you do not have it already...way better

I just replaced mine with one from RN. I started with the passenger side then pushed the drivers side like heck till it popped in.
