NADA Guides

Uncertain if this in proper forum.
There is a D90 for sale and seller wants to use NADA Guides to purchase vehicle. Seems to work like this:
send funds to NADA in escrow, then they will ship to me to have inspected, have 3 days to inspect. IF good, funds go to seller, if NOT funds given back to me (Buyer).

Has anybody ever used this before? Opinions?

Here is link. Have not done any research yet but will tonight.

ITS A SCAM!

There are a million variations on it ... but it's a scam ... the truck in question probably belongs to a member here and isn't even for sale.

Can you post the VIN of the vehicle in question?

Duh. Scam scam scam. Let me guess the wife is selling it on behalf of her husband who is stationed overseas. The car is already in NADA's hands therefore you cannot go inspect it in person (oh darn).

Post the vehicle pics.

The website is a joke as well. Oh my god look how awesome the process is for the buyers! I want to send them my money just because it sounds so easy to get it all back. Seriously though, look at the "Benefits" they're all geared toward giving the "buyer" peace of mind because (duh) there's not actually a vehicle for sale here. Nothing about how the vehicle gets back to the seller if the buyer rejects the vehicle, etc. just mentions how easy the buyer gets his/her funds back.

I can't believe after how long the Internet has been around, people still almost fall for this BS.

god this thing looks dodgey as all hell, right down to the stock photo.

But in terms of scams they are getting harder to spot as legitimate designers turn to the darkside with the recent economic downturn.

Had a friend of mine get his with a CL scam that even generated a shipping 'tracker' (which was really just a google maps with shitty photoshop added to it), on closer inspection whatever 'tracking number' you put in the field generated the same result.

Needless to say he lost $3500 and they asked for more because supposedly the delivery was stopped in transit and needed to be bailed out.

Long story short, looks to good to be true, always is

I posted that while working today before doing some research. Initially, looks like legit website but CORRECT, completely different from NADA Guides website and NADA does not offer any type of transport or sale services.

THANK YOU everyone. I do not remember website I saw the D90 now but did take screenshot. That was about 2 weeks ago and just got an email today saying still for sale and it is located in Houston but he lives in UK...so that was first sign.
I emailed back stating I could have someone look at it in Houston and that's when link came to me. Scammers are getting better. Here is pic.

Damn, you guys are good:
Red90: wicked research and info.
xjahx: absolutely correct, different website
rijosho: agreed and that's why I posted on this forum and received answer I needed
nomar: I am going to play with this scammer, asked for VIN and badge number, waiting on reply, interesting to see what he says
