Mystery bolt on the transfer case

On my '94 D-90, there is a bolt to seemingly nowhere on the driver's side of the transfer case between the transfer case and the frame rail. This bolt does not seem to go anywhere and when I take it out it's just an open hole that goes into the transfer case. Any ideas what this is? I noticed that the same location on a '94 disco has some electrical lead plugged into it. Is this a type of speed sensor? I tried searching but didn't come up with anything substantial.

The disco has a t-case oil temp sender there that the 90 doesn't. That what you mean?

Yep, that must be it. Is there any reason to install something like this on the D-90? Why would the disco have it and the D-90 not with the same t-case?

I'm sure you could put one in and hook it up to the trans overheat light easily enough if you wanted to. Seems to me that where it sits is above the oil level though so not sure how effective it is.
