Ivan, here is another tip. Don't post your CL finds here. At this very moment there are over 150 people viewing this forum and a good chunk of them buy and sell cars for a hobby or a living. They will snap up the good deals instantly.

I fit 4 Polk audio 6.5's, a sub and headunit in my 90 for ~$400. This was from scratch and included mounting the speakers on the roof, which I've enjoyed. Up and out of the way of dirt or water. Here's a link to my setup (post #43 & #45). Took me about a weekend and a few simple tools to do.

Hey I found a D90 P/U, I don't know if it is still for sale, but thats not the point.
Do any of you guys have experience in converting a P/U into a SW?

Just need roof, sides and rear door. And you can probably get a few bucks for the pickup parts.

Buy the brown one in the for sale vehicles section - that's been one of the best deals around. Abrooks here used to own it.

Keeping my options open, I found a D90 with 2.5petrol; what is the conversion to diesel like? under $8k?

Easy swap, but the 2.5 gas is brutal if you have to live with it for a while.
200tdi is easy that is

Max time I would have to live with the 2.5gas is the length of time it takes for the engine to get to me; once it arrives I would drop the Defender off at the shop for the swap.

you mentioned 200tdi, why not a 300tdi?

Sorry it is the 2.25gas, my mistake

200 uses the same engine mounts, and probably some other stuff. With the lt77 and the 200tdi the tranny tunnel and seat box can stay. Not sure if that's true with a 300ti.

Well I have some good news!
While I am still on the hunt for a defender, my friend just bought a second car; and he will let me use his old car if I needed to. So now I have a car if I need it while the Defender is in repairs!

Jeff told you to contact Pendy over a month ago as he would be a good resource of information for you, and would have a truck or two there to show you the important things to look out for.

All of the good ones I sent you last month have already sold, sadly.

For some reason I never saw that. I will give him a call later this week.
Been busy with university and life, just getting back into the market.

Hey guys, I found a D110 with 200Tdi/LT77 which I hear, while not as reliable as the 300Tdi/R380 combo, is reliable enough. It is located outside Indianapolis and I was wondering if anyone here was close enough and would not mind taking a look at it for me since I live 15+ hours away.
