Just means we knew what we were getting into.

I also endorse the D1 idea; I had a '95 D1 for a while that was a lot of fun and I enjoyed the a/t. Just think I almost bought a new Disco instead of the new Defender in 1996...........

A couple of days ago I was in the weeds; starting to see the finish line now. My S-Corp return will of course be the last one filed on 09/15/13..............

One of the few wise investment choices I ever made. I distinctly remember the salesman telling me that one day it will be worth more and I was like yeah right. Purchased new in ATL June 6, 1995 relocated to Taos, NM in Sept 1995. D90 has been loving life ever since.

Then in 2008 we did a 1031 and got ripped off; been in litigation ever since. I have had hundreds of clients do 1031's over the years never even heard of anyone getting ripped until my sister and I.........We did get half our money back last year but guess what? I got a 1099 from the damned atty's; so I am showing it as income and claiming the "Madoff" rule so that it is not taxable. But I am sure it will get me audited anyway!

Hope you are doing well. Tell your boys I will hook them (or you) up when they are here in Taos.........

Man, I'm with you...never had a bad 1031 deal.

Jordan's up in Pagosa Springs now too, so I'll be in the neighborhood

Yup, I'm last...though I've made it too hard...I'm a C-corp

The same as any other car probably. The sky is the limit.

Get headphones for your iPhone. They will double as hearing protection.

tips and pointers on stereos, if you buy a softtop and even if you don't buy a marine head unit and marine speakers, not much more in cost but they won't short out on you if they get moist, wet, damp. nobody steals car stereos anymore so forgo the detachable face, they are a pain in the ass, I have two amps underneath my driver seat next to my battery and I have a 6 speaker system with a bass speaker built into a box in the back, the two mid speakers are in my locks boxes in the back, it sounds sweet, I paid 3800 at car toys for the whole system. amps are expensive and it was a lot of labor because I made them rewire the whole dang car with better speaker wire.

The Q and As' on this thread is getting epic. lol.

As Dave pointed out, we may be getting trolled. If not, Ivan from LI who goes to a university in Norman and says "ya'll," I hope you do get a Defender. Sounds like your Dad will
come to your rescue financially when your Defender strands you on the side of I40.

1) Alpine Head unit (usb + aux compatible) + Free Harness from Crutchfield = $175

2) JL speakers = $100 to $150/pair

3) Mini Alpine Power Pack Amp = $150

I did a brief write up on the install with model numbers and links to Crutchfield. Here's the thread:

http://www.defendersource.com/forum/...eferrerid=8577

I am really happy with the Alpine head unit and mini power pack. Perfect set up with minimal to no impact on the interior of the vehicle.

If I can get someone to take the ride with me I am going to Kansas this weekend to check out the following D90. Other than the rust, engine, transmission is there anything that should jump out at me as a red/yellow flag? (other than it's a defender)

Is this something I want?
EDIT: Unless you mean as a aid in the Defender test drive.

Make sure it has a proper title, that the title is clean, and that the title represents the correct information on the truck (year, make, model). You don't want a VIN swapped truck or something that wasn't imported properly and can't be titled.

Check the electrics, turn signals, hazards, headlights, high beams. Engage all gears. Make sure diff lock and low/hi range works properly. Drive it on the highway, make sure it feels/sounds right - no clunks, shakes, or other strange things.

Don't be afraid to say "no" to trucks that seem even the least bit sketchy. The real problem with a lot of these old ROW trucks is that you don't know what their history is, and usually neither do the owners. Unless they've done an actual frame-off themselves, there's no way that the sellers know what's really wrong under the truck.

I second the motion tp get in touch with Pendy. Bring a sheep and he won't make any moves on you.
