given all the drama of the 2.8... i'm thinking LS or 300tdi .. no question.. and i doubt my truck will ever cross a boarder so LS... when the 3.9 finally gives up
love the idea of a 2.8 tgv.. though..

I wouldn't give up on the 2.8. All you hear about are the few people with issues. There are plenty of installs with a lot of success. I've got 25k miles on my 2.8 with no issues. I love the torque, the VNT turbo is awesome, and I consistently get 20mpg with a lead foot.

and the 2.8 is all over central and south america as a production engine in the ford ranger.

Hey there, I'm trying to get some insights into the ups and downs of fitting a 2.8 from M&D Eng in UK, was your motor one of theirs, a build of your own with their parts or from others, or an original International one?

I don't have a lot of details on my install as I am the second owner. I do know it is an M&D kit, and it was installed by a diesel shop that knew what they were doing. It took some tweaking to get it dialed it, but it's perfect now.
