Also had your symptoms; replaced hood switch and battery as others have said. Needed a new battery anyway at the time.... One or both solved the issue.

I used a scrap piece of aluminum foil for a while, then I jumpered it with wire.
I'll replace the sensor when I replace the batteries in the TPMS sensors...

Hood switch... known glitch. Happened to mine a few years ago with random alarm triggers, and before then would randomly tell me the passenger door was open as I was driving down the road.

Thanks for the insight. Fingers crossed it's the hood switch. If so, looks like I wasted $450 on a door latch that was fine.

5 days later not one alarm trigger. Damn I should have come here first before blowing $500 on a new door lock.

Hopefully this thread helps someone in the future. If you have random alarms, always replace hood switch first no matter what your car or mechanic says!

Thanks everyone for the help.

I am having the same issues with the front driver door - says it is open and interior light stays on.

Won't lock from key fob because a door is still "open" -drivers.

No alarm issues.

I am going to replace the hood switch after reading this thread - and report back.

Does anyone have the part number for 06 LR3 HSE?

This is exactly how mine started. Pull out electrical plug from hood switch on passenger side and put a jumper in to hold connection until you swap. Will keep everything normal until you can swap in new switch. Believe me the alarm triggers are a nightmare.

Good Intel. Too soon to campaign for a dedicated LR3 technical folder, again? Hide it like the opt-in mud pit if necessary to appease the diehards.

After posting in this thread my left rear door started acting up... then stopped. I did fiddle with the door latch some though.

Jumper the hood switch. Bet it stops it.

This thread is funny - the hood switch thing was common knowledge for dealer techs 10 years ago (myself included). Guess we are in a whole new generation who must rediscover these things now.

I wasn't a Rover tech 10 years ago so there's that. Stick around, it's good that some techs were paying attention as some shops "have never seen this issue".

Wasn't commenting on your personal knowledge. Just on the knowledge gap in general. The transfer never seemed to have happened.

Funny but I still know all the tricks for defenders/discos/RRC, but can't tell you anything about any rover made in the last 13 years. Most of the tricks I know seemed to stay around, but I doubt many new techs at least at dealers know them.

Yeah the hope would be that the knowledge would have somehow transferred from old techs to new techs but I guess that hasn't happened at a few dealerships! Someone should recommend an LR3/4 sub section here
