I decided to make a new harness myself with better wire and it works perfectly. The harness that came with it was cheaply made and fell apart quickly. I used weatherproof connectors for my new harness and used an 25amp inline fuse. Thank you everyone for the advice. It was much simpler than what the light manufacturer was saying.

In the set up he has there is a relay protecting the switch from the high wattage of the lights.
Additionally there is fuse and I think a trigger wire for splicing into the brights circuit.

So he's in pretty good shape from that point of view.

I don't know about the brakes, only their unreliability.

I should be on that mess ups and mistakes thread, .....I dropped a light while mounting it on the bumper. Still works fine but the lens is more cracked than a land rover's rubber seals. In the end, I decided to replace the crappy "baja" lights and order a pair of Hella 700FFs. I am going to mount the non-broken light on the back as a work-light. If anyone knows of a mount for my purposes please let me know. Also, my switch is 30 amps and so with the 25amp fuse, and the better wire, I was told I did not need to put the relay. Good thing because the relay fell apart as well. Click image for larger version

Snell post for the win.

And good for you Landyman for tackling this project.
You cant screw things up too bad putting on lights.
A small fire never hurt anybody, now really?

Good choice with the Hellas and using your Baja as a work light.
