more starter/electrical stuff

So optima died blah blah while the truck was in the shop getting "fixed". Got a new battery today. the person at Auto Zone said to "bring it in so we can test the altenator/starter. So I did altenator is fine but they said that the starter was "pulling 280 amps" and that it should be 110 for a lucas starter or 90 for a Bosch. Whats the deal? All just seems wierd to me should i take the starter off and take it a starter place? What could be the potentual problemo? thanks folks

Doesn't the starter go through a fuse? I believe a 100A fuse? If it was "pulling" 250 amps, why would it not have blown? Have you recently been concerned at all about the starter before they told you? I am not saying all is good, but...
