More Questions

I am trying to figure out what is the best way to get a D90 from one point to another. I am curious if anyone has had experience with shipping a 90 and if so how much it cost, the logistics of it, etc. I am particularly curious whether or not it would even fit with the roofrack and lift so if you have any thoughts please let me know. That aside, if anyone has anything to say about other ideas please suggest them. Thanks in advance.

I shipped an essentially stock 110 (with factory roof rack) and it required an open trailer after it was rejected by a standard hauler due to height. Cost from MA to KS was $800.

I shipped from Salt Lake City, Utah to Raleigh, NC. in a cover carrier for $1000.00. The person I bought it from helped alot with setting that up. Problems you might run into are the busier they are usually the more they charge. When I broke down in KY I called around and was getting prices of 1500-2500 for a 600 mile trip which was a joke.

Brought it from Arizona to Ohio in 5 days, $750. That was about 1 year ago.

I shipped from La. to Colo. for $1100.00. It worked out well once they got the # of vehicles they needed to make the trip. It appears that they will guarantee a delivery time b/w 2 & 3 weeks. Then they try to arrange a few cars to be delivered to the same area to save cost. The time that I shipped was also during the height of the gas cost. Otherwise, it would have been around $800. So my D90 sat in New Orleans for about 1 1/2 weeks waiting to make the journey. Overall, I am neutral. No damage to the vehicle most importantly.

Boston to Georgia, $900 and it took a week from initial call to delivery. Gold Rush Transport, I believe was the name. I've heard good things about Intercity Lines, but they are pricey. I was scheduled to have them transport my 90 to me when I bought it, after 3 weeks they had not picked it up, I fired them and hired Gold Rush. The driver could not have been nicer, called me several times throughout the trip with a progress report (got bored on the trip I suppose) and was a day earlier than he thought. Had a Ferrari and a nice new Benz on board when he showed up at my door.

D-90 with rack , LA to NY using DAS (Dependable Auto Shippers www.dasautoshippers.com). I think it was about $1050, shipped in the summer which is a busy time for them. Winter is slower and they give better prices.

Thanks guys for all the input, and listing the companies you have used. This has served as a great reference point for me and helped me to look at which haulers to look at. If anyone else has additions or suggestions please put them up. Just thought I would thank everyone in advance.

Right now I am toying with the idea of purchasing a vehicle in Colorado and bringing it back to Atlanta.

18 months ago NJ to CA $1600.00 full insured.
I'll hunt for the invoice for the company name but it'll take a day or two.
My only advice - be really careful on the inspection and take photos of the ride as documentation.
I have transported cars 3 times, D90 once, with no problems. Got a friend - big problems. Pix, pix, pix he claimes are the best protection for "misunderstandings"

Paul is right pics are hard to argue against. Make sure that the company you use is fully insured. I seem to remember doing a yahoo search for delivery companies and found a list of things to avoid and things to make sure are included. Unfortunately, I don't remember the site.

Chicago to Boulder for $1300.... That also included a 24' truck to haul all my crap. Moving company: Uhaul.

It also came in handy when I blew a seal and warped the pinion.... 600 miles, one way back to Chicago for about $650.
