more matter of factical than technical

Along with just having created a new word...

I drive the shit out of my 97 defender 90. When I bought it mid summer of 2012, it was a one owner. It had accumulated an impressive 32,000 miles since its inception. Driving it off the lot I could tell it was pissed. 15 years in this world, averaging about 2100 miles a year. So i proceeded to drive the absolute hell out of it. I wasn't even buying it as a daily driver. But that is what it has become. My other truck has been reduced to the grocery getter, which doesn't count for much because I never really buy groceries.

So here we are in 2015, just a few months short of it being the three year mark of ownership, and I have racked up to an impressive 119,000 miles on the clock. People are so horrified when I tell them that. Cracks me up. So has anyone else racked up numbers like that in such a short time?

Nice! Glad to see you putting your truck to use. I've only put around 50k on my disco since I bought it in the fall of 2011. It's my daily even though I have a more fuel efficient car sitting in the driveway.

Not the same but 110 ex-mod, change it to 200tdi (defender engine). More than 250 000km from transplant and engine was not overhauled. Might help as I run it on kerosene.

If I paid what a 97 D90 goes for I'd make it a point to put that many miles on it. Get your monies worth!

Out of curiosity, what maintenance have you done in the last 3 years? That's an oil change almost once a month.

The water pump went out on me once. Replaced the thermostat, gasket, and pump.

Installed the trailhead stainless cooler lines....but waiting until it was at almost 96k.

Replaced the oil pressure sensor. Brake Pads. One rotor. Seal end assembly on front right.

That's all of the 'serious maintenance' that I can think of at the moment hah. Everything else has been shits and giggles.

The first owner of mine was a 70 year old lady made of steel. She put 71k on it from 1997 to 2001. I'm pretty sure that's what killed her

I've averaged 2k a year since then but am primarily a motorcycle rider. Put 10k on the bike last year. The D90 is actually my most comfortable vehicle.

I bought a Beluga Black 1995 ST last October that had a touch over 200K one owner miles. I haven't driven it much, and since I bought a 1997 SW, I don't see myself driving the ST that much.
