That's a multifunction switch or "courtesy computer" that controls rear wiper delay and stuff like that.

Search the part number on this website. Suffice it to say, don't break it.

Bill-

Carefully opening my D's mfc and cleaning corrosion off contacts and repairing a cold solder joint fixed a whole host of buggy stuff. Among them, my rear wiper and courtesy light didn't work for the first year I had it, and then it miraculously all started functioning after simple surgery.

Prior to that, I'd also looked for the availability of a replacement just in case, and found then either unavailable or stupendously overpriced, depending on source. (And those sources couldn't guarantee actually getting one in my hands.

One more week in Iraq this deployment.

If anybody has a dead one, I'd love to see how repairable it may or may not be.

I thought I'd share the find.

Just before XMas I was looking around online for random parts I can always use, I found an online parts dealer selling the impossible to find/supposedly NLA AMR5919.

Mine is acting up again (rear wiper being flakey and courtesy lights not going out, etc) and before I take it apart again and de-corrosion it, check solder joints & pins, etc, I figured I'd see if I could find a spare. I half expected to get the wrong part, no part, or a questionable used part from a gutted truck, especially after I got word that it was backordered, but today it showed up. It looks like an original old-stock LRNA part in sealed LR package with LR part sticker. (I think these were also used on the 4.0L V8 50th Anniversary trucks in the UK, and I'm guessing that it may have come from the UK to fill my order, but who knows.)

I'll put it in this weekend and then clean up my other one to have as a ready spare without worrying about bodging it up.

If anyone is in need as occasionally pops up, I found it at: http://www.carpartsestore.com/produc...filter=amr5919 .

Not cheap, but I figured I probably won't be able to find one later when I need it.
